I tried to connect my BMV-702 to custom GX (raspberry pi) using VE.Direct to USB interface. No device recognozed. I also tried connecting to windows pc where I just get error usb device is not working incorrectly etc. I tried with a all new VE.Direct to USB cable and excatly same behaviour. What could be the problem,
On windows I had the same problem. I needed to download the VE.Driect drivers from victron energy website (https://www.victronenergy.com/upload/software/CDM21228_Setup.exe OR https://www.victronenergy.com/support-and-downloads/software) and on the Raspberry PI i didn't have that problem but what rpi are you using? pi3B? or pi4B
I have the VE Direct USB interface working fine with the Raspberry pi. If the interface is powered up, you should be able to list it in devices try :
"lsusb" or "dmsg | grep tty" from the command prompt in the terminal window. Note that the cable wire colours in the VE direct cable from VE direct interface need to be checked for function against the pin numbers (if you have to cut the plug and extend the cable...)
I'm using mine with the MPPT charge controller with no problems, programming in python.
