Just got it from Amazon... can’t get the software to download from the App Store. :( DOA. Why doesn’t Victron host the downloads on its site?!? What do I do now?

Because Apple doesn't allow installing 3rd party apps onto a iOS device. Not Victron's fault.
I just checked the App Store and was able to download VictronConnect. Maybe other issues causing this for you.
What Apple device do you have?
Maybe it is just to old or you first have to update iOS?! VictronConnect requires iOS 11.0 or later.
The oldest Apple devices compatible with iOS 11 are the iPhone 5s, iPod Touch (6. generation) and iPad Air.

The Windows version of VictronConnect can be downloaded directly from Victron.
