I’m adding a BMV712 with 500A smart shunt to monitor 2 battery banks. The 2 cables supplied for connection to battery positives are each 2m in length. If one of my battery banks requires a longer cable to reach the positive can I splice in the necessary length (no more than 30cm) without compromising the electrical integrity of the cable?
It sounds negligible enough that the meter numbers will be the same, but if the decimal were longer, there might be a difference like this: 4.402 amps vs. 4.403 amps.
Thanks. I’m also thinking about just hooking up my Battery Sense to the engine battery and monitor it’s temp and voltage via my Victron Connect app. If I do this I’ll get the temp sensor for the BMV 712 and connect it to the LFP house bank.
