connecting em24 energy meter - long distance

Hi,

I have a cable distance of approx. 150m from em24 to Multiplus II (3-PH installation with 3 multipuls II devices). Multiplus II is in basement - wireless comunications are not working there.

The cable (cat6) is extended three times (approx 50m, 70 and 30m lengths).

Will this work? If not - what are my options there?

RS485 is able to be used over very long distances. Use a shielded UTP CAT5e or better cable. Use a twisted pair for the cable.

If you have issues, you can also look into adding a resistor as a terminator but it may not be necessary.

With the ET112, we use CAT5:

1. RS485 orange to orange (make sure it is the orange from the RS485 cable and not the red which looks orange) - Data+

2. RS485 yellow to orange/white - Data-

3. RS485 black to blue - Ground

1. and 2. ensure that the RS485 yellow and orange form a twisted pair.
