Off Grid DC Solar/Batteries with added AC Solar

I understad that an off grid system with DC solar, batteries and an inverter/charger can be be connected to a (rule of 1-1) AC solar/inverter system via the AC OUT on the DC inverter/charger, but this limits the size of the AC solar to the same size as the DC inverter/charger

CAN AC Micro inverters/solar be connected to the AC IN on the DC inverter/ charger to increase the overall size of the system? e.g. acting as if the DC charger/inverter was connected to the mains grid.

Hi @Steve Eggleton

The MultiPlus will disconnect an internal relay when there is no AC sine wave detected at the AC input.

Solar PV inverters (micro or otherwise), usually require a sine wave to synchronise to, or they will not start up.

There are some exceptions to this, and there are some specialised PV inverters that create their own sine wave, but those have not been tested by Victron.

So unless you have the grid, or something, generating another sine wave on the AC input, the Multiplus will not connect to it.

I have a free in depth training course that explains how Solar PV inverters connect in Victron Professional Online Training. Even comes with an exam and certificate at the end.
