Phoenix 12/800 Intermittent Noise

Hi Everyone.

I recently installed a Phoenix 12v 800W inverter.
It runs off a 200ah Gel Battery that is charged by 2 x 370w Solar Panels.
We usually only use the inverter during day time to power two x 250W fridges.

Since day one off using this setup, it’s been making a SHORT vibrating/grumbling/buzzing noise when one of the fridges kick on, and then it goes away

Is this noise normal?

Will it cause damage to anything in the long run?

Please will you please share your thoughts on this if you have any.

Thanks so much.
Jacques.

2x250W fridges are quite a lot for a 800VA inverter.
A compressor have a high inrush current (up to 10 times the normal current).
What you hear is the booster for the high power needed to start the compressor of the fridges.

Thanks so much for your answer. This definitely helps me understand better.

Will it cause damage in the long run, or do you think i can continue running things the way they are?

Jacques is your inverter still running strong? I ask because I get a similar noise on my inverter when switching on Air conditioner and wondering if it is okay for the unit.
