Ok to use external charger when MultiPlus is connected to battery?

Until the MultiPlus can terminate the absorption (aka CV) phase based a minimum charge current, I want to occasionally fully charge the battery using an external charger (a Revolectrix PowerLab 8) that will terminate based on current. When I do this, I'll hook the external charger directly to the battery terminals. Is it safe to leave the MultiPlus connected in parallel? These feels like the same situation as if I has a Solar charger connected, I just wanted to be sure.
