MPPT75/15, use of 5V of Victron VE.direct port as 5V power supply ?

Hello team!

I have a SmartSolar MPPT75/15 and i'm asking if 5V of the Victron VE.direct port could be use to run tiny MCU like Arduino or ESP8266 ? What is the power capability of this pin ?

I know I can use a regulated voltage and current from LOAD output with more components...

Thank you

Matthieu

Up to 8 attachments (including images) can be used with a maximum of 190.8 MiB each and 286.6 MiB total.

Oh!... And is the Ground pin of Victron VE.direct port same voltage reference as LOAD negative pin ? (VE.Direct GND pin = LOAD negative pin ?) Thanx

Hi @Biozor

Please don't do this, this could give wrong values from MPPT and / or damage it.

it's really a tiny amount it can provide, even using non-standard cables can already give strange error's.

OK Thanks! 5V Victron VE.direct port is only for voltage level !

So, can I connect GND pin of Victron VE.direct port to LOAD negative port ?

hmmm.. yes obviously for voltage level too. And yes, never connect 5V output.

Hi! I read in VE.Direct Protocol FAQ :
https://www.victronenergy.com/live/vedirect_protocol:faq

"Q5: How much current can I draw from the power pin in the VE.Direct port?
Max 10mA average, with max 20mA/5ms bursts."

Bye!
