Possibility of Quattro setting for standby or sleep to reduce internal consumption?

Some inverters specially offgrid can be set to automatically go to standby mode in case there is no load on the AC side, in order to reduce the internal self-consumption (which is about 30W For the Quattro 120V/ 5000 VA).

Is this possible to do for the Quattro, or how can we reduce the internal self-consumption of it as it is a bit high especially in case there is no AC loads connected for example?!

Have you tried to enable the AES feature, under the 'Inverter' tab in VE.Configure?

Just note that this is not recommended if you will be turning on items with high inrush currents while the unit is in energy saving/stand-by mode.

Thanks for your answer @Mark

I have a system which uses 2 MPPTs (Blue) and Quattro 120V/5000 + a CCgx. All interconnected using VE.Bus. In that case, I believe that according to the below NOTE FROM THE AES documentation activating the AES will NOT WORK FOR our case, do you agree?

Important note:

AES settings will be ignored when the device is part of a VE.Bus system. In other words: "AES will function only when the device is working stand-alone."

Yes you are correct, per the multi unit setup documentation .https://www.victronenergy.com/live/ve.bus:manual_parallel_and_three_phase_systems unfortunately AES will not work with parallel and multiphase systems.

If the unit is set to 'charger only' mode the inverter portion will turn off but the unit 'should' keep communicating and only draw a small amount of power. I don't know if this would help you at all? It would have to be manually triggered. I also don't know what trouble it will give you with ESS.

Conclusion

  • So AES would save some internal energy but can affect the system usability. That what I got as the main conclusion, and I believe NOT to use it is better.
  • I don't use ESS now, as I decided it won't be the best assistant for the off-grid DC bus setup I have especially for the Hybrid batteries which is totally new for the algorithms integrated into Victron ESS control.
