We are prototyping the setup for a new battery/solar electric boat and the initial plan was to use a Victron 24V Smart battery with a VE.Bus BMS V2 connected to an Ekrano, a SmartSolar MPPT charger and a regular Blue Smart charger. Trying to connect this all up today we discovered that the BMS V2 only works if connected to a Quattro or inverter as it uses that VE.Bus connection to get its ground.
Has anyone got this to work making up a cable from the 2nd VE.Bus BMS connection to ground?
Otherwise I can't see a way to use a Victron battery with an Ekrano/Cerbo on an installation without an inverter (other than going back to a shunt). It would not be appropriate to install an AC system on a vessel this size (other than a charger).
Anyone else run into this problem?
