Connecting to 12 volt house batteries and 12 volt starter batteries

I would like to connect the battery monitor to my motorhome. I have four 6 volt batteries to create a 12 volt system for the houser. I am looking for a wiring diagram. I left the negative wire on the battery that created the 12 volt sytemd then ran a seperated 2/0 wire to the shunt, battery side. Then connected the motorhome ground to the other side of the shunt. The convert on the motorhome was overheating?

Negative cable from the battery bank goes to the battery side of the shunt, all other grounds go to the load or system side of the shunt. Battery bank should not be connected to the chassis ground, only to the shunt. You can connect the chassis ground to the system/load side of the shunt. All current must go through the shunt.
