Can I connect the Phoenix inverter 250VA to the MPPT 100/20 load terminal?

Hello,

Would connecting Phoenix 250VA directly to Load terminals of MPPT 100/20 (with connected battery of course) work or start curent draw peak from inverter will trigger solar controler's overcurrent protection? The load on the inverter would be 150W max and the battery is LiFePO.

Hi @Luka Koper,

You cannot connect the battery connection terminals of an inverter to the load terminals of the MPPT, it will not work, and could cause damage to the MPPT.

You can connect a signal wire to the left-hand contact of the connector of the inverters remote on/off connection to battery positive however for the same intended outcome.

Yes @Guy Stewart (Victron Community Manager), thank you for the answer, I could read in the manual that inverters should be connected to the battery terminals of the solar controller due to its high currents at start and peak loads. But what if the start current (and current on a peak load) of some inverter is lower than 20A, so it could never reach the solar controller's limit, would this be an acceptable connection?

No, never.

There are capacitors and high inrush current components in an inverter which exceed the current rating of the supply, control and safety components of the MPPT load terminals. It is forbidden.
