BMS-CAN port Stopped

Hi all,

Testing the communication between the bms from my company and the cerbo gx, we have encountered a problem where the cerbo GX gets to an state called "stopped" and the only way to solve the problem, it is to reset the Cerbo GX.

We are not sure why this problem occurs, but the installation has 9 batteries communicating in an internal protocol using extended ids and several messages transits during the whole operation.

Reading the Victron documentation for the Venus OS, I tried the test number 2 from the documentation (https://github.com/victronenergy/venus/wiki/canbus#2-auto-recovery-from-bus-off-mode), and I get the same situation. The cerbo is blocked and there is no way to restart the driver not even from the console via SSH.

Even though the driver is set to restart at 100 ms when I tried to disconnect the can communication from the port (BMS-CAN), the state "stopped" still remains.

Here I add some images of the gui and the console from the cerbo displaying this problem.

Do you have any idea on how to avoid getting into this state (STOPPED) or how to avoid to having to reset the cerbo GX once the cerbo gets to this state.

Thanks for any help

Did you ever get this resolved? I have had 3 Cerbos with specifically BMS CAN issues. The last one gives the same STOP error and refuses to restart. Reboot, Power Cycle, even left it off for 10 minutes. Changing to the VE CAN port and chaning the protocol seems to be more stable, in my case anyhow.

Hi, have you seen this since Venus OS v3.32 ?

That is when we last improved the stability of the CAN-bms port.

What kind of batteries are connected?

for me this happened on the latest official release available prior to 27 June 2024 v3.33 if I remember correctly.
