extending wire of smart shunt

Just received my Smart Shunt IP65 500 amp and need to extend the grey wire to my second battery. Need to run an additional 8'. Can I cut and butt splice this wire?

@BCapo

I assume you need to so you can measure a start battery?

If so you can extend it, but check on the results. Technically for voltage sense since it is not carrying current it should be ok. But it really depends on the splice job and gauge of cable. We all know voltage drops over length due to resistance...

There are a few threads discussing it. I think there are alot of varying results.
