Problems with Phoenix Charger IP43

hello,

I have 8 of the victron phoenix chargers. 4 are the 230V and 4 are the 110/230V. They been operating for a year now. One isn't letting me connect. It says that firmware is none. I get error X88. I have tried two phones. I tried forgetting device. None of it helps.

The other unit is operating but it is showing a voltage of 1.48V and current of 5.0A on a 12V system. I have it set to power supply at 14.7V.

Another thing that I have noticed is that a few of the units aren't showing any of the LEDs lighting up. I only see a few of them showing the LEDs.

Why the crickets? How should I proceed? Is this a warranty issue?

Hi @woer123

The product that has no firmware and always fails to update is indeed a warranty issue.

Furthermore you say:

Another thing that I have noticed is that a few of the units aren't showing any of the LEDs lighting up. I only see a few of them showing the LEDs.

When this happens, what are the chargers doing at that moment?
And when you connect with VictronConnect, do the LEDs than light up?
And are these all 1 specific type or is it a mix of the 230V and 110/230V models?
Can you perhaps add screen shots of VictronConnect of the main product page and the settings when connected to a charger that has this behavior?

Kind regards,

Thiemo van Engelen

1. When I plug the chargers in, I usually get an intermittent flash of the LEDs when they are in standby mode. 3 of the 4 units don't show these LEDs. When I switch them on, the LEDs remain off. the 4th one shows the proper LEDs

2. When I connect using the app, the LEDs still don't light up. The panel of LEDs is always off.

3. I haven't checked the 230V units since they are mounted behind the 110V units

4. Which unit? the ones not showing LEDs are the one not allowing the firmware update or the one that chages at 5V?

Thank you

Hi @woer123

So you have 3 units that do not show the LEDs? And the update fails on all of these three units? Because in the original question you mention only an update problem for 1 of the units.

Kind regards,

Hello, Sorry here are the details:

110/230V: 3 out of the 4 don't light up LEDs. One of these is the one that doesn't want to update firmware

230V: one charges at 5.5-7.9V when set at 14.2V

Hello,

I also wanted to ask why is it that the 230V units never reach 50A in bulk charge mode while the 110/240V units do? The most I normally get out of the 230V units in bulk charge mode is 25-29A

I switched back to charger mode.

Thank you
