Do I need a battery protector?

Do I need a battery protector with my system? I have three one hundred watts Renogy panels, Victron Mppt 100/30,Victron BMV-712 battery monitor, Victron Multiplus compact, Victron Color Cntrol GX and two 170ah Renogy lithium phosphate batteries. I was wondering if the battery protector is needed.

Modern Lithium batteries have an internal BMS, which should be enough in my opinion. It has all the protection features you need. See your product manual. My battery from BlueNova controls the MPPT through Ve.bus. Of course if you need additional peace of mind, it cannot hurt. I even removed my BMV as the battery has become the source of truth, although it some history features and TTG are then not available.
