Multiplus v500 firmware problem?

Hi Guys,

Ten days or so ago, updated Multiplus firmware to v500 and Cerbo to v3.0~14 Large (beta).

System comprises Cerbo, Multiplus 12/3000/120 and CANBUS connected REC-ABMS. Cerbo also connected to NMEA2000 with lots of instrumentation. Use both Signal-K and Node-RED.

Behaviour of Multiplus has changed from mostly being in 'ext.co' to 'float'. Multiplus now never goes into external control. Is this normal for v500?

Connected USB/MK3 to check Multiplus settings are as before and Two-Wire assistant is correctly configured and running.

Wound back Cerbo to previous firmware (v2.92?) large then tried non-Large. Multiplus behaviour is same with all Cerbo firmwave versons so suspecting Multiplus v500 firmware has changed something?

Any thoughts?

Many thanks.

Hi Ian,
Which firmware did you have in the Multiplus before upgrading to v500?
Could you try going back to that version and test if that solves the issue?

Let me know if you need help getting the older firmware version

best regards

Hi Martijn,

Thanks for very quick response.

Unit was supplied with 2609430 and updated to 2609476 in December 2020 so assume this was firmware in use. I can only find v433, v459 and v500 on professional site. Is there an accessible firmware archive somewhere else?

Many thanks.

Hi Ian,

a not so well known trick to program any known firmware was introduced in VEFlash V9005157– Released 31-01-2022
When an internet connection is available one can enter #xxyyzzz or as filename (xxyyzzz being a firmware version). This will automatically download and use the specified version (if it exists).
e.g. #2611492 results in the 2611492.vff being fetched and used.
One can also enter #xxyy (so without revision number e.g. #2611) and in that case VEFlash will display (and use, after confirmation) the latest found version.

Hi Martin,

Reinstalled v459 on Multiplus using VEFLASH; v459 being latest pre-v500 version available on professional website. Tired again with Cerbo firmware V3.0~14 normal & large with same non-ext.co result.

Reloaded Cerbo with v2.92 large and Multiplus returned to correct ext.co behaviour. In conclusion, could not get Multiplus v500 to work with Cerbo v2.92 or v3.0~14 and CANBUS connected REC-BMS.

Slight concern for my installation being the Multiplus holding Lithium batteries at 14.1V for long periods, now fixed.

Cheers.

Short side-note: I use several MP-IIs on v500 in ESS (mode 3) and they are showing „external control“ and they also respond to the external commands.

It‘s not completely your use-case but it shows that „external control“ with 5kVA MP-IIs (3-phase) on v500 is possible.

Yes I updated the firmware on all MP-II to v500 (via remote-feature of the cerbo / vrm)
