100/30 Mppt allowed to charge via VE Direct?

Hi Guys,

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I’ve noticed on the older VE Bus BMS schematics there is usually a Cyrix relay between the Smart Solar MPPT and the main system bus. Now with the Lynx Smart BMS the same connection is direct. Does this mean there is now an ,”allowed to charge”, signal from the BMS via the VE direct cable? Or is there something else that I’m missing here?

Thanks in advance.

Keith

Thanks for your reply Alexandra,

I’m aware of that cable but it doesn’t appear to be what they are using in the Lynx BMS schematics, they all use a ve direct between the Cerbo and the MPPT.

The problem with the cable you linked to is it controls the MPPT but doesn’t allow you to monitor it at the same time via a GX device.

It gets confusing because different generations of MPPTs have different capabilities.

Newer MPPTs can be controlled directly by VE.Direct or have a remote port that can be hardwired to the ATC connection on the BMS.

The older 100/30 has only a VE.Direct port. If you use a VE.Direct connection to the Cerbo for monitoring, you would need an external device to provide BMS control. A Smart Battery Protect wired to the ATC port on the BMS would be the preferred way to do this. Refer to Victron's schematics for use of a Smart Battery Protect to provide BMS control of loads or charging sources that don't have other provisions for BMS control.

@Harris Marine It is probably important to read the "Important notes" at the bottom of the schematics.

It would seem that with the aid of a Cerbo and DVCC, the Lynx BMS will control the mppt charge enable/disable via the Victron Direct port.
