Change name of BlueSolar using VE.Direct Protocol

Is it possible to change the name of a BlueSolar controller using the VE.Direct Protocol? I can change the name using the VictronConnect app but not seeing how I would do that with VE.Direct HEX.

Hi @palu3492

It depends a bit on the product whether the name can be set using VE.Direct hex or not. When the name is editable in VictronConnect when it is connected via a VE.Direct cable, it can be set via VE.Direct hex. For the BlueSolars and SmartSolars without a VE.Can connection this is not the case.

For the products where it can be set (BMV712, SmartShunt, SmartSolar with VE.Can connection, Phoenix Smart Charger), the vreg to use is 0x010C with a maximum of 20 data bytes. So the command would something like this:

Thanks for the info. Looks like it's not possible on the model of BlueSolar we are using (MPPT 75/10). Changing the name is not an option in VictronConnect when I plug in the BlueSolar using the VE.Direct cable.
