Charging - can too high a charge setting damage the inverter?

Simple yes or no please. Charge rate set by Victron approved installer was 3 x times the rate advised by Victron, the new

MultiPlus 12/3000/120-16 230V VE.Bus

overheated within a few hours of being connected to shore power. Now Victron agent / installer claims this had nothing to do with it. Is this true or a probability it did damage the Multiplus.

There are no simple answers as that removes context which is relevant.

Any inverter/charger has specs within which it will operate (these are defined at 25C), if your settings are within this, then cooling is a separate issue affected by the environment - airflow, ambient temp etc.

The unit is designed to protect itself from overheating, but properly installed it should not over temp if used within it's design spec.

Can you clarify what settings you mean, what you were advised and what your install looks like? Perhaps then you can get a simpler answer.
