Multiplus ignores AC input when battery is too low - 2

Hi all,

It seems a friend of mine basically has the same problem with a Victron Multiplus 48V/3000VA system (single phase) as @jasonsele described in his post (link),

The battery low light is flashing, no other lights are on or flashing. There's power on the AC-in input, but the Multiplus doesn't seem to charge the batteries (charging light is off).

What state is this Multiplus in? Is it basically switched off? Why is it not using the AC-input to charge the batteries (AC voltage and frequency seem to be ok)? What (if) parameters are controlling this behaviour? How can we restart the Multiplus?

Thanks for any help or insights you can provide,

Gerben.

Usually the batteries BMS tells the system when to stop loads or charging - some BMS systems have only one signal and this turns both charging and load off - so check how the BMS is interfaced. also how does the batteries BMS works as some batteries have inbuilt BMS disconnects inside them - ( I dont recomend these types of batteries for inverter/charger systems as the main inverter has NO control)

@Paul B thank you for taking the time the answer the question! The battery bank is a 'classic' battery bank 4x220Ah AGM batteries, no BMS, so it's the Multiplus itself that decided for some reason to completely switch off (only red low power indicator is flashing, all other lights are off). Any thoughts?

there are many reasons and more info is needed.

1. what is the battery voltage at the battery

2. what is the battery voltage at the multiplus terminals

3. are the current batteries operational ie if you remove the battery termianal and connect a load to the batteries - whats is the voltage then

4. what are the settings in the multiplus, some screen shots of all the ve configure settings

5. have you a gx device and access to the vrm

6. have you contacted the installer who setup the system
