Smart Battery Sense vs. Smart Shunt

Sorry a nob to this. I have read the smart Shunt offers more info the the Smart battery sense but do not understand how it is better.

Also of you have 2 batteries can yo wire to just one since they are in parallel or do you go to pos on one and neg on the other?

The Smart Battery Sense only measures Temperature and Voltage, it does not measure current so it cannot calculate State of Charge.
The Smart Shunt does measure current too, so SOC can be calculated.

If you mean that you have to identical batteries, then you connect them either in parallel or series depending upon what Voltage you need for your system.
If two 12V batteries are wired in parallel, then you end up with a 12V battery bank with twice the Ah rating.
If two 12V batteries are wired in series then you end up with a 24V battery bank. The Ah figure stays the same, but the capacity is still double because the Voltage is double.
In both cases the Watt hour rating is doubled.
