How to add a backup generator to a Solar off-grid? (All loads are DC)

I have a solar-off grid system that is powering DC loads only and the system is as follows:

- MPPT 250/70

- 3540 Wp Solar PV

- 48V 200Ah Battery Bank

- Cerbo Gx

- VE-Bus-BMS-V2

How can I add a back-up generator to this system that starts automatically only when the solar power is not sufficient? (Note: My loads are all AC so I don't need an inverter in my system)

Please support.

Here is my system wiring diagram: Wiring Diagram (R1) .pdf

Thank you.

It rather depends on your generator of choice.

You can get generators that output DC. That is an option.

Alternatively you will need a charger that converts from mains down to the 48v you need. This can be an inverter charger like a 3kva Multiplus or a Skyla TG (this is an older product to my knowledge and you may find the MP 3kva is cheaper). If you had a 12v or 24v system there would be alot more choices for a direct charger only.

How big is the generator you are looking at or how many charge amps from the generator source do you want?
