I can set the BMS assistant to force the charger to float if aux input is closed.

Does that mean that the converse is true, and it will force the charger to bulk/absorption if the aux input is open?

No, the Charger will decide on voltage which mode it will be in, as per normal charge curve.

You mean it could be in float, even if the aux input is open? (assuming closed forces it into float)
