12v feed in not amps recognised

Yet to install solar on my mppt 75, I have a cheap 240 to 12v converter feeding into the solar terminal. The app recognised 12 solar feed in but no. Amps. So battery is not charging. Should this work? Thanks.

The "PV" voltage should be 5v above battery to wake the mppt charger up. So that is likely why no charging is happening.
