Phoenix 48V 3kW will not communicate

Hi. I have 3 x Victron Phoenix 48V 3kW and FTDI RS485 adaptor - (same as MK2/3 adaptor?)

They have the dual RJ45, which seems to be parallel.

I am good with RS485, MODBUS, DNP I understand the protocols.

I have connected RS485 FTDI adaptor to the A and B data pins, and ground. I have the correct pins because it goes to the RS485 chip on the PCB. (or CAN?)))

I have terminated the adaptor with 120 ohms.

When VE connect tries to communicate (TXD LED and drives bus) , I see it generating data and the Phoenix replies with data on the RXD LED, flashes. But VE.Configure will not communicate.

I see the Phoenix generating many transitions and data.

Is this Phoenix RS485 or CAN ?????? I have not checked with an oscilloscope.

Or do I need the proprietary MK2/MK3 USB interface ?

I am confused. Any info with thanks

glen.

It is RS-485. However, you'll not get it to communicate with a simple RS-485 FTDI translator.
VE.Bus is a propriety protocol and there is actually a PIC in the MK3 adaptor which does the VE.Bus protocol translation.
