I’m trying to change the shore current limit from 50A to 30A. However, even though I can select and confirm 30A, the current limit briefly changes to 30A and then reverts back to 50A. I’ve tried changing it from the Cerbo GX UI, the Remote Console, and VRM. All have the same result. I’ve changed the current limit before, so I know it’s possible, but right now it will not change. Any suggestions on what the issue may be or what to try? Thanks.
Troubleshooting steps already taken:
I rebooted the Cerbo GX module
I switched from the new to old Cerbo GX UI
Tried changing from Cerbo GX, Remote Console and VRM dashboard
These are the major components of my system:
Cerbo GX MK2 - Firmware v3.60
MultiPlus-II 12/3000/120-50 120/240V - Firmware 2780552
SmartSolar MPPT VE.Can 150/85 rev2 - Firmware v3.16
Generic Can-bus BMS battery - Firmware 010300
Has the Multiplus ever been programmed to allow the shore power limit to be over ruled by remote. See VEConfigure3 settings screenshot, the tick box needs ticking for another device to alter the shore power limit, otherwise it stays with what is set in the Multiplus.
In case you do not know how to program the Multiplus see below. Take a backup of settings before any changes and take care over them.
To program a Multiplus use either of the options below, detailed instructions in the links.
A smartphone using the VictronConnect app with a Mk3 USB interface between the phone and the Multiplus
A PC/laptop using the VE Configure program with a Mk3 USB interface between the PC/laptop and the Multiplus.
A PC/laptop using the VE Configure program through a GX device if you have one connected to the Multiplus and the internet.

Also, check to see if there are any assistants that are controlling the input current limit. I ran into that once and scratched my head for a good 30 minutes before I realized there were assistants the customer had programmed to change the current limit based on different sensor inputs.
@pwfarnell - Thanks for the reply! I’ll take a look at those settings in VE Configure. I haven’t changed anything in there, yet, so this will be new for me.
@OGPS - Thank you as well! I haven’t set up any assistants, yet, so I should be able to rule that out.
Not sure if I know what the long way around is. On the Remote Console, I tried changing it from the Controls button on the dashboard, and from the device settings. Both had the same result.
Since my last post, we traveled home, and we’re connected to a 15A single-phase circuit. The system recognizes that and automatically changed the shore current limit to 30A, but I have the same issue that it needs to now be 15A, and it keeps reverting back to 30A. Ugh!
Start with the factory reset and possibly a firmware update. Then reset up. It is weird how it can’t be over ruled if nothing else is interfering.l like a dmc or mods.
I have not done a firmware update or a factory reset on the MultiPlus II, yet. I will look into how to do that…
What I meant by the post you mentioned is that my system somehow recognizes if I’m hooked up to a single-phase (110V) or dual-phase (2x 110V to neutral or 220V phase-to-phase), and it switches the shore current limit automatically between 30A and 50A respectively. However, there are times where I’m hooked up to 15A single-phase or 30A dual-phase, and I need to change the limit. Currently it always reverts back to whatever it automatically selected. Being new to these systems, I have no idea if that automatic selection is normal or not. I’d prefer it to simply retain whatever it was last set to and allow me to always manually change the shore current limit as needed. But, first I need to be able to change the limit.
Ok, I just updated the MultiPlus II firmware from v552 to v556. All devices now have the latest firmware. Unfortunately, this problem persists. Here’s another screen capture showing the 3 ways I have tried changing the limit (in addition to trying from the Cerbo GX touchscreen):
I finally got it to retain my shore current limit setting - but I don’t know why this fixed it. As I was reading all the literature, I saw info about enabling Solar & Wind Priority which was something I wanted to do. I went into VE Configure 3 and changed the setting to allow that:
I then uploaded the new config to the MultiPlus II. After doing that, there is a new setting in the Controls for “Charge Battery to 100%”. While I was in there, I also tried changing the shore current limit from 30A to 15A - it stuck! No idea why that did it, but (at least for now) it’s working.
