Boiler goes in error when powered by generator

Hi,

We have an off-grid setup with solar panels, batteries, Multiplus 500 and a generator that only turns on when batteries are low and recharges those.

We have a new (gas) hot water boiler plugged in, works perfect on batteries but refuses to work when generator is running (error message and shuts down). We tried everything these last few weeks but cannot find the solution and getting desperate....

Anyone an idea ?

thanks

Have you tested the boiler direct to the generator to see if that works? Some generators have high harmonic content that shuts down some smart equipment - try improving this with a resistive load on the generator like one or more 100W filament light bulbs.

Hi Mike, thanks for your comments. I'm not familiar with high harmonic content...is there an easy way to solve this issue ? Instead of light bulbs, our pool pump is usually on at the same time and that's about 800W, is that also good ? We tried hooking the boiler through a voltage regulator, also did not help...
