Battery Monitoring

Hello everyone,

We are live aboard Cruisers and I would like to be able to see, at a glance, the following battery information.

1. State of Charge

2. Current going to batteries (from various sources)

3. Current being used (services, water maker etc)

I would also like to have a daily total record of each of the above.

What set up do you recommend! At the moment I see no alternative to having 3x BMV shunts and their displays. Is there a neater solution available from Victron?

Not sure why you need 3 shunts. I installed the BMV712 on our cruiser which is used a lot for several overnights on the hook, and the Victron Connect app on my smart phone shows all the stuff you’re looking for. Our system utilizes a FLA engine battery, Orion Smart 12-12/30 DC-DC charger, 2 170W PV panels on the hardtop overhead with Smart Solar 100/30 MPPT, 2 Battle Born 100AH LFP house bank batteries in parallel, and the BMV712 monitoring all the stuff into and off of the 200AH house bank. I use a Battery Sense to monitor the engine battery. All of these goodies are linked on Victron Connect which allows me to obsess over information for much longer than I need to, but I sleep well at night when on the hook.

Sounds like a great set up. With the smart battery sense monitoring the engine battery - what do you see on Victron Connect? Can you get a trend of voltage and temperature? Cheers!

here are some screen shots from my VRM portal showing consumption and System overview.

I have a CCGX permanently connected to the internet and off to Victrons VRM portal

There are a number of Chinese hall effect Volt/amp meters (Picture below) that have the ability to store data.
