MPPT 100/30 installation orientation

I want to mount the controller with the wire terminals on top, this also also allows the led's to be

visible. The unit is to be mounted in a tool box with an ac/dc charger to maintain two Li-on

batteries for radios. Is the only issue keeping the fins vertical and free and clear for good air

flow?

You can mount it upside down like that.
Just as you think, the fins need to be vertical.
