SmartSolar to supplement existing rectifier

We have a range of 48 V rectifiers, ranging from ancient to modern. They don't make provision for solar inputs, but we'd like to supplement the incoming AC with solar to drive the AC cost down.

If possible, I'd like to connect on the DC side - it doesn't make sense to convert from panel voltage to 48 Vdc, to 230 Vac and then with the rectifier back to 48 Vdc. However, I'd like the existing rectifier to retain control of e.g. the float voltage and temperature compensation. Is there any way to do this?
