Orion TR DC-DC Converter Efficiency

I was planning to fit a Orion TR DC-DC Converter between the Leisure Battery bank and the fuse panel, so that everything gets a regulated 12.2v.

But I'm concerned over the quoted 87% efficiency of the converter. Is it as simple as it appears, and I would effectively lose 13% of my battery capacity, or are there other factors to consider?

That's pretty much how it works. The efficiency will go down with very light loads, reach a maximum somewhere as the load increases, and then fall off again under heavy loads.

What sort of batteries are you running, and what's the problem you're trying to solve here?

The leisure bank will consist of 8 x Trojan T105's.

I am trying to achieve the following:

  1. Stop high voltages when charging going to sensitive equipment
  2. Over 12vs and my LED lights get too hot

I could just wire individual regulators in to the necessary circuits, but want to explore the option of supplying a regulated voltage to the fuse panel, and covering everything.
