Multiplus shuts down without any apparent reason

Why would the Multi in an EasySolar-II 48/3000 GX out of the blue shut down and automatically restart an hour later with no apparent reason? No alarm logged, no notification, AC load at time of shutdown below 100w, battery full, grid good (virtual switch set to "ignore AC input")?

Hi Nama, there are lots of reason this could happen but we need to find out in your case is why.

Hopefiully you have a GX unit and have a connection to the vrm, look at all your graphs at the time of the shutdown and see if you can see a reason, also download the excel data file and again look at the time and the reasons reported.

If not then you will need to see what the battery voltage is when its shutting down, this will be the main reason I would think, and it then comes back on when the solar has charged the battery back to its restart level.

Thanks Paul, on-board GX in EasySolar. Nothing unusual on VRM, hence this question on the forum. AC Output 58w at time of shut down (security system and a few lights), AC within normal parameters (Volts and frequency) and battery 53.09V with SOC 98%. Happened around 22h30, so no PV power present at the time.

Guys comment is quite valid and a real possibility that a cell has gone hi, these are really hard to see as well, so have a look at the bms history in the battery if it has one

Hi @Nama,

I presume that this system is using a lithium battery. The most likely cause is something that upset the battery BMS, and it shut down to protect itself.

This can sometimes come with a warning or alarm, but not always.

It could have been a cell imbalance, and this is the most likely cause if the battery was near 100% fully charged. But it's tricky to say for sure without having access to the more detailed internal monitoring (maximum / minimum cell voltages).

If it has just been a once off event, probably best to just wait and see if it occurs again before digging too much further.

Thank you Guy. It is a lithium battery yes, a Freedom Won. This is in fact the 2nd occurrence (identical circumstances)... previous instance about 2 months ago. I'll take it up with the FW team as I really need to get it resolved due to the fact that this system power a sensitive security system that cannot afford any downtime.

Another troubleshooting step that is a good idea to help exclude from the possibilities.

Step 1. Check for the latest firmware with all the manufacturers (batteries, chargers, inverters and control units, etc).

Step 2. Remove all communications cables and replace them with new, factory made cables. Make sure there is at least 10cm distance between any communications and power cables (where all possible).
