Doubling up battery connections for Quattro install

Getting ready to install a 12v quattro system with 6 batleborn batteries via a Lynx shunt and distributor. I see that the Quatto calls for the 12v inputs to be doubled- should the 4/0 cable be doubled all the way to the battery connection points, or just coming from the Lynx to the Quattro?,

Well, it’s a bit more to it, depends on how long your runs are.

You will need to consider the current that’s going to flow, which will be the same on both sides of the lynx but you don’t needs certainly need doubles just the equivalent gauge of cable.

So for instance if you have two 50mm2 you could also use 100mm2 instead. - just these big cables can be a little hard to come across and quite difficult to work with hence the doubling.

As a rule with DC cables you can’t oversize them. I always fit the heaviest cables possible to minimise voltage loss and maximise performance.

The victron toolkit app has a calculator on it, use that to get an idea of the cable size you will need. Manuals also have general recommendations.

one word on the doubling, some areas in the states don’t like doubled cables especially for marine installations.
