Is it mandatory to use a relay to interface with the load terminals on the MPPT 100/20 48v and the 48volt load?

Hi,

I am trying to connect a 48 volt DC heating element to the Smartsolar MPPT 100/20 48v. However, I noticed that the MPPT’s data sheet states “48v model: interface with relay” and the load terminal outputs 1AMP.

Why does the 48v model only output 1amp from the load terminals?

How can I connect a 48v load to the MPPT 100/20 and make use of the load terminals? (without having to buy a victron battery protect)
