Smartsolar 75/15 ok for 36V/7,7A input?

Hi,

I have 3 solar panels (1x 180W, 2x50W, all with 36V) in parallel so that I have 7,77A at 36V of max. PV charge.

My dealer says that I need at least the SmartSolar 100/20 for these panels, but shouldn't the 75/15 also do the job? I mean, the 75 stands for the max. input voltage and the 14 for the ampere, and both of them are not reached with my configuration.

Thanks for your help!!!

15A charging current into the battery(not the PV current).

But you should not use different panels together at one MPPT.

Hallo Matthias,

thanks for you answer, so maybe the 100|20 or even the 100|30 should be the better choice.

Why would it be a problem using different panels? Unfortunately on my camper this will be the only possibility as 2 x 180W won't fit.

Thank you again

Andreas
