Why use Isolation transformer in automotive application?

From a Victron video on installing a solar on a van [1], in their setup they use a isolation transformer to connect the shore power to the inverter.

In what scenario this is usefull or required?

Thank you.

This is so that the van can use it's own earth system even if it is connected to shore power.

Why should I want to have a separeted earth system on a van?

Once the van is plugged in to shore power then the MultiPlus N-E relay is open. Now your earth reference is no longer local on the van but it is back down the power line somewhere wherever the N-E bond is, it might be far away.
Also, if you use a floating generator without a N-E bond then you are isolated from that and you still have a reliable earth reference inside the van.
