Why is the Multiplus Compact 24V/2000 so light?

I've been comparing 24V ~2000VA inverter chargers and looking at the specs for several of the major manufacturers, the Multiplus Compact 24/2000VA is much lighter (13kg) than many similar competitors (22-28kg for Samlex, Magnum, Xantrex, Outback)

Does anyone here know why?

Maybe it's different housing / different type of transformers, etc.

The units are quite capable, 100% overload, etc.

I suspect its due to a combination of :

1) the "hybrid inverter" architecture. It only has one converter inside which can either do AC -> DC or DC -> AC at any single point in time; the need for only one converter leads to weight savings.

2) use of toroidal transformers vs EI transformers

Its just a guess from outside the company.

I think there's another recent thread which goes into a bit more detail about the architecture and converter topology.
