Winter Battery Storage

I have a new electric pontoon boat with four Victron deep cycle AGM batteries (12v 110Ah). I plan to store it on a lift this winter (with a water de-icer) in a northern climate (SE Michigan). Is it okay to leave the batteries on the boat rather than remove them? If so, should I leave the charger connected thru the winter, and should the batteries / boxes be covered to protect them from the elements? Thanks.

Hi @WestcottLO

A fully charged lead-acid battery should be able to handle -20 degrees C without any problems.

Best to completely disconnect the batteries so nothing can draw a (small) load and discharge the batteries.
