A heap of issues, including generator

Basically, have recently installed Multiplus 2 in combo with BYD Battery Box Pro (2 units), a Victron smart charger and cerbo. All been going well until this weekend where we started up our generator to give the SOC a bit of a boost. Multiplus made a big click sound and then it didnt connect. Generator wont communicate or engage with the Multiplus. Have made all the recommended changes with current limiter, weak AC, amending current input levels, etc. Generator is an older Kipor digital inverter 6kv able to easily cater for all loads and charge. Tried a new digital .generator and it worked. Hoping not to have to buy a new generator but . . .

Few questions:

  • Will a new normal generator (non-digital inverter type) work
  • Now my system data doesnt work on the dashboard - no data to show - how to correct
  • Device list says that the items havevnt been visited for the last 2 days - how to correct that
  • Dashboard also doesnt show any information for the generator when the new trial generator is on. Simply shows generator symbol but no information although the batteries box shows charge going in.

Have you read the generator FAQ? There are tons of posts here available via search, most resolved by following the doc.

As for VRM, make sure you have reliable comms/wifi. if you are not getting realtime connections on VRM then you have internet issues.

If it is calling home but devices are not current, you need to check all your cabling and remember to not mix blueteeth smart networking with a GX.

Most of this is quite basic and some manual reading and searching for existing topics would get you going in the right direction.
