Connecting bmv712 to bp220 or 100

Is there a way to connect the bmv 712 to either a bp220 or bp100 to stop charging when temperatures are above or below a lithium batteries charging specs? I currently have one bp220 in place to cut loads when voltage is too low. I'm planning to add a 2nd battery protect after the charge connector to stop charging. Any help will be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Hi Teddy,

If you have a smartsolar mppt (or a bluesolar mppt + Bluetooth dongle) you can network (via VE smart network) together with a BMV 712 (or a smart battery sense) to share voltage and temperature data.

That will give the mppt the ability to terminate charge below 5c. Hi temp cut-out is not available. https://www.victronenergy.com/live/victronconnect:ve-smart-networking#vesmart_networking_compatible_products

Thanks for the reply. I do not have a victron mppt at the moment. Eventually I plan to get one when I size up my system. Is there anyway to link the 712 to a smart bp220 through bluetooth to cut charging?

Hi Teddy,

I think the bt in the smartBP is for monitoring/program only (not networking).

It looks like the bmv712 can control its relay based on temperature. Look at page 25. https://www.victronenergy.com/upload/documents/Manual-BMV-700-700H-702-712-EN-NL-FR-DE-ES-SE-PT-IT.pdf

You could then use the "remote" of the BP to enable/disable it. https://www.victronenergy.com/upload/documents/Manual-Smart-Battery-Protect-12V-24V-65-A-100-A--220-A-EN-NL-FR-SE-DE-PT-ES-IT.pdf

Check what others think first.

That is what I was thinking I just wasnt sure if it the two were capable of functioning in that manner.
