Victron 180W panel showing 13V and burned MPPT75/15

Hi,

I run 2 pairs of 180W Victron solar panel with MPPT 75/15 for 7 years, and today while in absorption mode, one MPPT stopped charging. Inspection showed that 'solar minus' (third attachment after battery +, battery-) is burned. I also checked voltage of associated solar panel and was showing 13-14V instead of 40-42V which was shown on my other MPPT controller that is connected to another Victron solar panel).

MPPT 75/15 will have to be replaced but wonder what caused this 'event'. Ii appears solar panel malfunctioned and killed MPPT ? What can possibly cause that ?

After connected faulty solar panel to good MPPT for diagnosis, it appears I stuffed up the second MPPT 75/15 as well as it is now showing 0.01V, although second solar panel voltage is around 41, measured by instrument.

thanks heaps for any insight

Hi @Franc

This usually happens when a connection is loose, this causes a high resistance and things can get hot then.
