MP2 5k Limit recharging from Grid

Hi from Germany,

I've set the min SOC to 45% during the Winter time.

Now, after some bad days, the battery was going down to 40% and the MP2 5K was start charging wit te full Power.

I would like to limit the Grid Recharging Power to e.g. 10% of the max Power while keeping the max power for charging if the PV is running.


Only limiting the battery charge current will lead to not charging with full power when the sun comes out in winter.

PV-Charging max 3500W Grid use 0W

PV-Charging not possible because no Sun -> recharging max power 500W

Just edit the max charge amps on the inverter charge tab via veconfigure or victron connect.

You can either do this via remote veconfigure or using the mk3 adapter.

MPPT's will still be able to charge at full power.

If you want to limit the total combined charge, configure a max in DVCC on the GX.

My system is AC PV having 4x2000W micro inverters.

So limit the max charge amps also reduce the charge coming from the PV.

Presuming your system is using frequency shifting to control the PV inverter, or similar, yes, it should. It is no different to varying loads on the output.

So is there any way that the system limit the recharging current to 500W. Should be easy as the MP2 can check the actual values from grid and pv.

Or only use max charging current when the grid current is near 0A (or power to grid)

like:

if "grid power" is more than 500W limit the recharge power.

Charging is voltage driven, so limits are always current-based.

You can get creative with nodered or similar and manipulate how your system behaves, it's a bit more work but there are several creative solutions being used by other forum members and discussed on the modifications section.
