BMV-712 and goofy DC load Reading

screenshot-2023-09-13-103114.pngHello-

Our BMV-712 is showing DC loads that are nearly identical to our PV in wattage. The BMV is reporting correct battery voltages but it is showing DC loads that do not exist. So, the BMV SOC reading is calculating these mystery discharge loads and now reading 0% SOC when the batteries are actually about to hit absorption phase. Electrician is baffled. Any advice or direction welcomed and thanks!

You can try the "Synchronize SOC to 100%". Connect to the BMV with VictronConnect, to your BMV, battery setting, synchronize.

Also, disconnect DC load and hit the "calibrate". This will give the true 0 Amp

This is usually caused by the shunt being installed in reverse - the shunt is directional, with one side being the side that connects to the battery bank and the other side being the side that all loads and charger negatives connect to. When installed in reverse, it will "read" a load as a charge and a charge as a load - so that would be my first suggestion, check to be sure that the shunt has been installed in the correct orientation in the system!

The PV side is generating over 2kW. This must be going somewhere. This needs to be checked. Where is the power going? To the genny maybe?

I suspect the shunt for the BMV may be incorrectly connected. The battery side of the shunt must be the only connection to the battery negative. No grounds there. All grounds/negs to go to the load side of the shunt.
