MultiPlus-II firmware issue

MultiPlus-II 12/3000/120-50 120/240 Prod ID 2780; Used VictronConnect, VRM Portal to update firmware from v483 to v506. Reconfigured via MK3 USB. Received an alert that v506 is not compatible for my unit and change to v502. Why is v506 available for my unit if v502 is the recommended firmware.

Hey @heinmi2 ,

To confirm what @Seb71 said:

It looks like the VictronConnect App has a bug around seeing a newer version than what it ships with/knows about. At least with this newer version of v506 firmware for inverter/chargers.

Wrt that firmware: There is no known problem at all with firmware v506. You can use it without issues

I recommend to leave v506 installed.

And we’ve scheduled a new version of VictronConnect for Monday or Tuesday.

The warning msg will be gone once you have that installed on your phone/tablet.

We’ll look into the messaging

@heinmi2 Is your VictronConnect app up to date? (firmware updates are stored within) so it could be possible you have an older version, which does not have it and VRM is more recent so hence a conflict?

Latest stable (non-beta) VictronConnect (v5.91) is from June 2023.

The VE.Bus firmware v506 is from August 2023.

A new version of VictronConnect, that includes this new firmware version (v506) is expected for release latest by mid august 2023. To install the update before then, download the required file from Victron Professional and use self-supplied firmware file update method as explained in chapter 9.2 in the VictronConnect manual.

But VictronConnect should handle such situations better.

It has been available via VRM last week already and I already updated my test bench devices without issues so above info is a bit out of sync.
