Orion DC to DC Converter for Lithium Batteries

Hello, I am installing a new lithium battery into my boat and for alternator charging from the start bank to the house bank I accidentally purchased an Orion 24/24 17 DC to DC Converter not a DC to DC Charger. Can I still use the Converter to charge my new Lithium house bank battery or do I really need the Charger?

@jcottis

Most ideally you want the charger.

You can fudge it with the converter, you just won't have the three stage charge just a constant voltage. For lithium that is not totally terrible.

Set it a bit lower than the max charge voltage bit above float for the battery.

The amps will stop drawing when it is close to full. Maybe have a way to disconnect by remote as well unless you need it (battery) as a power supply as well.

Both @WKirby and @JohnC had some good points here.
