MPPT 100/30 voltage compensation

What is the maximum increase in voltage that a MPPT 100/30 can put out to compensate for the voltage drop between the charge controller and batteries? The charge controller receives battery voltage information via a BMV-712. I measure a voltage increase at the controller of 0.5 to 0.6 volts above the programmed voltage at a charging current of 15 to 20A but this is not adequate to achieve the target voltage at the batteries. Is this the maximum increase possible?

I suggest you to install the maximum size of wire you get into the Co acts at the SmartSolar. AFAIK it is 25mm² which I will do to, because even 16mm² become warm (you can realy feel it it you take the wires in the hand)

I have the same problem.


My 4 battery sets have seperate BMV702 and are connected via 70mm² of 2,5m lenght to a (huge) power rail wich support 2200A where also my three SmartSolar (70A + 100A + 100A) are connected using 16mm² wires of around 1,5m lenght.


Under full charging load I get a voltage drop between the SmartSolar and the Batteries of around 0,5-1,8V especially if I get in the same time also windenergy (3x 2000W + 2x 700W).


This give a charging current of around 500A @28V.


I have compensated this by increasing the Absorbtion Voltage from 28,8V to 29,6V and the Equalising Voltage is still unchanged on 30,6V.


P.S.: I use SOPzS cells and have 2940Ah @24V currently, but this will increase to 7320Ah @24V with in total 8 sets.
