Installing Victron SmartSolar MPPT 100/30 with flooded lead acid batteries

Hi all, looking for a little guidance on the settings. I have two 6V Trojan T105's T105_Trojan_Data_Sheets.pdf (trojanbattery.com). On the battery settings there isn't an option for these so I believe I need to utilize expert mode and set the parameters manually. I'm still figuring this out so I'm hoping this community can provide some expertise. The terms on the battery data sheets don't perfectly match the setting options so I want to make sure I get this right. Also, are there any other settings I need to adjust beyond the charging levels? Thanks.

Assuming you plan to put them in series for 12V:

Bulk = absorption = 14.82 for a 12V system

Float = 13.50V for a 12V system

Equalize = 16.2V for a 12V system

You should have a SBS or smartshunt w/temp sensor in a VE.Smart network with the MPPT. This will provide voltage and temperature (and current w/smartshunt). You would enable temperature compensation:

you have 6 cells, so it would be 6 * .005V = -30mV/°C setting in the MPPT.

The smartshunt will also tell you your actual battery capacity and factor in how much load you're drawing and temperature effects on capacity

Equalization should generally not be done automatically. You really need to educate yourself on your batteries with Trojan's resources:

Hi @StretchRcr

Trojan T105 are actually a generic pattern battery, made by most major makers, and often called 'GC2' (for Golf Cart). I use another brand myself, and find the Trojan charge recommendations too aggressive.

Victron's Gel(2) is a good start point, Gel(1) a little less aggressive again. By all means adjust the Temp Comp to suit what they say (that's rough anyway).

Depends on how you're cycling them as to what to choose, but they'll usually last longer with less aggression. No doubt Trojan will spruik their product as different/superior, and that they know best, but believe the sales guff at your peril.
