Skylla i, Lynx Smart BMS and Cerbo GX VE.Can?

Hello,

I need a little help with the Settings or wiring in the system of my Truck.

My System have:

4x 200Ah Victron Smart Batteries in 24V

Lynx Distributor for Batteries IN

Lynx Smart BMS

Lynx Distributor for Inverter OUT

Lynx Distributor for Charger IN and several Loads OUT

Skylla i charger 24/80

Cerbo GX & Touch 70

VE.Can from Skylla to Lynx BMS. (Terminal at the end)

VE.Can from Lynx Smart BMS to Cerbo GX. (Terminal at the end)

All Batteries M8 cables are connected to each other and final to the Lynx Smart BMS

Power IN for the Cerbo GX comes from the Lynx BMS (PIN 1 and 2)

PIN 10 and 11 are connected.

ATC/ATD and Relay are open. (no cable)

On the Touch 70 i can see the Skylla and the Lynx Smart BMS. (means VE.CAN connection should be okay)

Where do I need help now?

I tried to test my installation on a cold winterday with battery temperature lower than 3° C.

(Battery charge setting are at 5°C)

When I switch on the Skylla Charger, the Lynx Smart BMS disconnects the Batteries a few seconds later.

I get an Alarm #36 ATC/ATD Fail.

It means:

Your system doesn't react to reduce or diconnect the load.

(Please check Can Bus / ATC/ATD wiring)

Okay. One part I understand.

The Lynx Smart BMS works and protects the Batteries from a charging.

Great!

But why did Skylla try to start charging a low temperature Battery Bank?

As a result, the contactor in the Lynx BMS cut off the whole system.

I thought the Skylla i, the Lynx Smart BMS and Cerbo GX “talk” to each other.

Can somebody tell me which settings or wiring i need, that the Skylla i control the charging in a proper way?

Best regards Robert

No, unfortunately not. This type of communication would be DVCC, but Skylla is not DVCC compatible, see the DVCC chapter in the GX manual.

Therefore you must disconnect the Skylla via the ATC contacts of the Lynx Smart BMS, which connects to the Skylla's remote on/off via a Skylla-i remote on/off cable.

Yes, exactly. And make sure you read the Connect ATC/ATD controlled loads and chargers section in the Lynx Smart BMS manual.

Good evening.

I'm so happy that you give me the information so quickly.

ATC/ATD should controll any type of charging and discharging.

I have to read the manual again.

Because in the second step I want to connect my backup Batterybank.

This 2x260Ah AGM Batterys are connected to a 24V 110A Alternator and a Victron Smartshunt IP65.

In some cases this Batterybank are charger (with the Alternator) or is Load to the Victron Lithium battery bank.

How I can connect both Batterybank in a perfect way?

Best regards Robert

This is something you better ask in a new question as that is not related to your initial question about Skylla-i with Lynx Smart BMS and Cerbo GX (DVCC vs. ATC/ATD).

Thanks.
