BMV 702 update??

I have a BMV702 w/- bluetooth installed and I have recently noticed that the readout on my mobile has changed. It now includes a "trend" screen. Seems very good, but how did that update take place? I don't believe I requested it . Auto factory update??? I'm not complaining, just curious as to how it happened.

The app itself updated to a new version with extra features.

when you connect to the 702 via your phone or tablet if connected to the internet, then it checks for updates and then if a update is avalable you get the update option on your screen.
